Asia Argento, born in Rome to a family which comprises directors and actors was a professional in both fields. This role won her both the David di Donatello award (for the top actor) as well as an award from Grolla de Oro. Asia started directing in the year 1994 she produced two short films: Prospettive (1996), a document on her father as well as Abel/Asia (1998) Abel/Asia, a feature about the cult film maker Abel Ferrara. The latter was awarded an award at the Rome Film Festival. Asia debuted as a feature director in Scarlet Diva (2000). In this film, she was also the lead actress and wrote the screenplay. In 2003 she starred alongside Vin Diesel and Rob Cohen's action thriller. Asia also wrote some short stories which have been published by a number of magazines.
